Connecting Garmin 12 to Axim (both powered)

I'm trying to see if this will work. I've searched several sites and haven't been able to get a good answer.

I have a Garmin 12. If I get a combo power/serial cable for the gps unit and interface that with a Deluo PDA adapter for Universal GPS cable (http://www.deluo.com/Merchant2/merch...t_Code=GPSUPDA), will that allow both units to be connected via COM port and be powered at the same time? The pinouts seem to match up at the serial interfaces.
