Default Axim and Siemens S46 Phone: can I get online?

I tried to get online, using the IR connection on my cell phone (Siemens S46). Anybody tried configuring the phone and pda to be able to get online wirelessly? (I know for a fact that it's possible).

I was just tonight trying this myself. I was able to transfer contact info both directions, but could not get anything to work as an external IR modem.

I thought I had heard that the S46 had a built-in modem, but I could not find it in the manual.

OK, now I have an update. I searched or "siemens s46 modem" on google and found:

http://forums.attwireless.com/attws/...message.id=438

Here's what I did to get connected via the IR port:

1) phone - set serial connection to IRDA
2) on Axim, define a new connection with the following settings:

8N1, no flow control
clear the "wait for dial tone" check box
use the phone number *99#
leave user id & password blank
set up custom dialing location with "G" as the value for local, long distance, and international numbers.

I was then able to connect and access a web page at a decent speed, even with a low signal strength.

---> update <---

Better yet, go to http://support.attwireless.com/awswl.../s46/index.jsp for AT&T's instructions on setting up various PDAs for use with the S46 phone.
