2.5 to 3.5 jack converter

Is there such a thing as a 2.5 (for cell phone) submini headset jack to a 3.5 PDA jack? I want to use my jambra headset to skpe on my pda. Holding it upside down is starting to be a real pain.

Can you explain a little further? Your headset is 2.5mm and your PDA is 3.5mm? Then we do have the adapter needed.

For PPCTech. I'm curious why you bothered with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The X50/X51 takes standard 3.5mm headphones without an adapter. I understand the 2.5mm (three conductor) normal cell phone jack to 3.5mm (four conductor) Dell jack. Makes it possible to use the plethora of 2.5mm cell phone headsets around. But why add the bulk of the 3.5mm jack. What am I missing?

This adapter is not for just the Axim. It also works on devices such as the JasJar. So you can use a headset or just a mic with the 2.5mm and then use the 3.5mm jack for a device such as a FM transmitter or cassette adapter.

This is perfect for use in the car so you can hear everything over the car stereo system, but also use a mic or earbud headset for the input.

Thanks for the info. This is what I need. Actually like Sven mentioned that the extra 3.5 is added baggage and I was hoping for just a straight through adapter even without the cable but if this is it then I'm in. You will be getting my order shortly.

Hmm, OK. Are there that many 2.5mm just mics around? I have something similar that works with a typical PC headset with separate 3.5mm headphone and mic plugs. Makes sense though.

Not really mics, but headsets. the 2.5mm is pinned out for a universal 2.5mm headset.

Our entire line of adapters were designed to allow a person to use their favorite 2.5mm std headset with their pocket pc that has a proprietary pinout.

Do you have 2 or 3 rings on the 2.5 mm jack? I purchased a 2.5 to 3.5 converter, but it only had 2 rings on the 2.5 jack and I got sound only on the right headphone.

Who are you addressing? 2.5 mm come in various flavors. Tip Ring Sleeve, could be mic, ear, common (pretty common) or left ear, right ear, common (not so common for 2.5. There aren't many just stereo headphones for 2.5mm. Tip, ring 1, ring 2, sleeve, are usually mic, left ear, right ear, common, but no guarantees on either arrangement on which is left and right, or mic for that matter. These things are very common on cell phones.

3.5mm also come in similar arrangements, but the mic, ear, common is not near as ususal. Tip ring sleeve is normally L, R, common for just stereo out. Some PDAs have tip, ring 1, ring 2 and sleeve wired to L, mic, R, common such that you can plug a Tip, Ring, Sleeve, stereo headphone into the 4 conductor jack and get the right connections for stereo listening, or plug in a 4 conductor headset/mic and get audio in and out.

While 3.5mm stereo arrangements are pretty consistant, and 3.5mm stereo headset/mics have to be to allow using just headsets, I've found the 2.5mm variety aren't as standardized. So..a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter can easily be wired incorrectly for a particular device.
