Timeout or automatic GPRS/1x disconnect?

Does anyone know of a way to have the GPRS or 1x connection on a PPCPE device hang-up at specified time (i.e. hang-up on an idle timeout, or once each hour, etc.).

I've noticed that my battery usage is signifcantly reduced if I have the 1x connected all day, so I've been manually "hanging-up" the connection a few times a day. It would be nice if there was an automated way to do this, though.

I've looked in the settings for the connection, but I don't see a such an option. Is there third party software what will do this?
