Help with Bluetooth Stereo Headset
I have a Sprint PPC6700 for which I bought a Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo headset.
The two link fine for making phonecalls but I have had no luck using the headset to listen to music via bluetooth.
The closest I've been able to get is to activate the call button while music is playing. All that gets me though is 15 seconds of music while the voice dialer is 'listening' for me to select a contact. When that runs out the music stops (in the headset, not the PPC).
The PPC Help says I should be able to dothis but I'm currently stymied.
Needless to say calls to Motorola and Sprint 'support' have been fruitless.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in the same boat as you. I am pulling my hair out trying to get this to work. Since it does actually work for a few secs, there has to be a way to do it. Someone help!

I've done this successfully with a Jabra headset.
- Pair devices
- Press the headset talk button, if you have it mapped to voice dialer...stop voice dialer.
- If you can hear system noise such as input beeps, start media player and play
- Check for headset powersave settings.

Well this works and the audio is routed through the bluetooth headset but only for a couple seconds then switches back to the speaker. If I press the bluetooth button again, the same thing happens: the music is transfered to the bluetooth headset (H700) for a few seconds, then switches back to the speaker again.
Since it does actually work but doesn't stay, there's got to be a way to do it. Maybe via a registry hack. I've been looking here:

but can't find it just yet. I've tried a couple entries but keep getting a "Access is denied" error when trying to add a key.
And I don't know of any power save functions on the H700... |

Have you used the headset for an extended phone call? If that works then the issue is in the PPC. |

That thread links back to this thread as well, lol...
Anyway I'm not sure they are talking about the same issue. The other thread may mean that it's disabling itself and doesn't work on the next phone call or something. They weren't very specific in their explanation.
Anyway, my H700 works fine on any phone call, never dropping the audio. When I bought my phone, they told me in the store that I could listen to music via my H700 which is one of the reasons I bought the phone. I am an IT manager/admin so I work in tech all day. A little embarrased to ask, I went back into the store and asked what the crap I was doing wrong, lol. Well they had the same issue. I left my phone # so if he does get it to work, he is going to call me...
I think it has something to do with headset/hands-free profile stuff or something. But there still should be a reg hack to take care of it.
If anyone can or has figured it out, please reply with a solution so we can listen to mp3s without wires, lol...

Yes, I linked the threads since it seems to be related. Maybe a solution found in one might not be reprted to the other...
If the headset works fine over long phone calls then it isn't the headset. The headset as a dumb device isn't picky about usage.
I'm going to investigate the settings menus and powersave on the PPC.
Can you post what Carrier and ROM version? |

It's in the software
I found a software solution. It's called Bluemusic by a company named Teksoft: http://www.teksoftco.com/
They have an interesting marketing scheme. You purchase credits that you then redeem for software. Bluemusic requires 30 credits (6 Euro).
Aside from that ideosyncracy the software works and I'm now listening to stereo music through the Motorola headset via Bluetooth.
I'd still like the phone to work the way it's supposed to. It's Sprint service and I'm running ROM version 2.06.00 |

Totally awesome, the http://www.teksoftco.com/ solution works great. Though it does cost $7.70 US I think it's worth it since it gives you full controll over when you want bluetooth on/off. So it could be used I assume to play a game or anything where you didn't want anyone else to hear it. Thanks for the info. I am going to buy it now. I will let you know how it works... |
