A Slovakian programmer has released a free program that will allow you to use any HTC Universal on any carrier - no matter from where you bought it! It even works with the MDA PRO (until now nobody has been able to unlock that phone except the original carrier).

An interesting addendum... vultures are trying to sell this program on ebay for aroun $100 USD right after he released it for free. In response others are offering it for free on ebay:

Perviously the only way to unlock many of these phones was to send it to someone and pay them $100 or more, and hope you get it back in working order and in a timely manner. On some phones there was simply no way to unlock them.
