Customizing notification when re-aquiring a cell signal

I live in an area where my phone loses and re-aquires a signal througout the day. (I can't wait to move in about 2 months). I'm new the Window Mobile OS. I just got an i-mate Pocket PC (2003 OS) and I love the configurable audible notifications.

I don't love the default.wav sound that plays when the phone re-aquires a signal. In the sounds and notification area there is no option to configure this activity. I found the file in the Windows directory, but it won't let me change it because it is a system file.

I'd really appreciate any help I can get from those of you with more experience.
