Default Reset

You have to push the Reset button

Soft-reset is a just a normal reset (all data intact), just press the reset button
Hard-reset is when you really messed up your machine. It will erase everything and get your device like it was on day one(I believe you have to press the power and reset button at the same time, but I'm not sure).

So in this case you can just press the reset button

the soft reset button is on the left side of the device, you know where the battery lock thing is? there's a hole right above it

i believe that's the soft reset button.

the hard reset button, as i understood it, is the white switch near the big data connector at the bottom.

am i right folks? hope this helps!

It's a bit harder to do a hard reset - the white switch on the bottom is just a power switch. Flipping that switch can lead to loss of data, but it's not the proper way to do a hard reset.

how to do a hard reset on an e740 (from section 11-5 in the e740 users guide):

---------------------------------------
1- Turn off the power.
2- Press the power button while pressing and holding the reset switch with the stylus, and then release the power button.
3- When a screen appears, release the reset switch. When initialization is complete, the Welcome screen appears. Set up the system according to the screen as in the case of startup procedure.
---------------------------------------

and you're done...
