Default Emergency Charger for PPC uses 9 volt battery!

Has anyone purchased the emergency charger made by Promaxwireless.com that uses a nine-volt battery to charge up Palm and PPC handhelds. Battery run chargers make sense when you are far from AC. There is supposed to be chargers for the Toshiba line as well. The products are sold through www.seido.com.

If you have one, are you satisfied with it?? Does it work well enough to save you in a pinch? It might be just the item for long plane trips or when out on backpack trips, using gps on long hikes, etc.

Well I think there was a review here once that praised the device. I purchased one soon after I purchased my e740 about a year ago. A couple of months ago, I needed to use it, and I was very disappointed. I couldn't get the e740 to charge off of it. I tried a new battery, but no luck. I'm not sure what was wrong. I really didn't have much time to delve into it.

Just one mans experience, you may have an entirely different one.

Could you mean this review? :-) A search on Seidio review turned it up.

There are also other other charges around, like this one. For me it seems more convenient to use AA batteries. More info in this thread.

Or you can just build one yourself 8)
