e740 soft reset causes loss of activesync recognition?

I installed a screen orientation changer to try it out - it forced a reset on my machine (no loss of data) in order to change the screen orientation. After that, i can no longer sync - anyone have any idea why? The driver is still intact but neither the PC or the pda recognize their connection
