Default e740 1% Battery Issue Software Patch From Toshiba

I didn't get much sleep yesterday, so when I went to work, and my e740 started off the day with a "Extremely Low Battery Warning," I was less than impressed.

I phoned up Toshiba determined to get a new battery from them, as another post somewhere in the forums states that the problem is really a faulty voltage sensor in the battery. However, Toshiba (Canada) wasn't going to give me one that easily. What they did give me, however, was a .cab file that the tech support agent said should cure my devices' ailment. If this doesn't work, I'm supposed to get back to them for another row, but as it is, I installed this .cab and now when I look at the power tab, it briefly says "Analyzing" and then pops up with the % remaining. In the "Remove Programs" list, all it states is "Microsoft Power."

I was wondering if anyone else has used a file like this either from Toshiba or Microsoft. If anyone wants, I can email it to them.

Lemme know what you think!!

I have had a couple of problems with my E750 all of sudden having no battery left. I am not sure if it a "Toshiba" problem or if it one of my many programs that is "leaking." I am trying to activate one at a time and leave it for several hours and then see what the power shows. One time I actually had a hard reset when I turned it on. Thank God for Pocket Backup! I was back up and running in under a minute and a half.

This problem only pops up every several weeks, so don't expect to catch it. I think it's a hardware issue myself, but we'll see what this patch does. As far as I knew, most of the e750 were remedied, but they do share the same battery, so maybe that's it. Who knows.

Hahaha, hey, this is great. My e740 is DEAD. Yup, Toshiba tech support killed it. Soft resets, hard resets, nothing works.

I turned it on Sunday night and she just glows green. That's it. Nothing else.

Toshiba tech support is going to be getting an earful tonight. This will be its 6th time in for service.
