Default Always charging can spoilt the battery?

My e750 is always on the cradle and charging.
Will it shorten the life spent?

Probably not. Most Li-Ion and Li-Poly circuits know when to stop charging the battery, and in general, their chemistries prefer being "topped off". You'll find that time and the number of charge cycles you go through to be a much greater source of battery wear.

That said, if you go on a trip or some environment where you're literally leaving the PDA on the cradle for weeks untouched, it would probably be preferable to take off the PDA, back up the data, disconnect the battery, and leave it separate.

Still one of the best sites for easing your mind that you are doing the right thing for your rechargeables is Battery University. Well worth a browse if you're concerned, Andy.

Default leave mine on all the time...

I've got a dell x5 and the toshiba 800. The dell batteries are charged all the time on the charger (this machine is a power sipper I rarely have to change the extended batteries ( I have two ) it lives in my purse for months on end). So far don't see the battery life with the e800. Just got the external charger for mine, don't leave that going all the time because only my original charger works with it and I don't want to lose my original charger to a surge etc.

Lithium Ion supposedly likes to have current to it all the time. I think it boils down to the quality of the batteries, if you look on ebay now you can find Lenmar (good stuff) for sale reasonably and someone selling a 3800 mah and a 5800 mah for more but these are way bigger than the original batteries offered by toshiba and the 3800 isn't huge like the toshiba extended it's just a bit fatter and might fit in a regular case (haven't tried).

Default easy to buy a new battery

i too was starting to get worried about always charging my e750 battery... but i decided to buy a second battery, searched around web for the original toshiba battery, but cant order or they all want $60-$80 for it plus s/h...so checked out ebay(i know...no garantee of getting the right item) but there are a few sellers that only sell batteries for pda/cell phones... i got mine for $23 canadian with s/h. Works great last just as long...made in china but still decent quality. Plus i dont have to work about the battery and when i travel i have a spare.
