Problems w/ Videos (Media Player 7 and E125)

Hey guys,

I have a Casio E125. I just downloaded the current version of Media Player 7 from the MS website. I copied some videos to my Pocket PC and there is sound, but no video. Once in a while a few choppy clips will appear but aside from that the screen is blank.

I then used Windows Movie maker to reduce the resolution to the lowest quality, about 220kb file and same thing happens. With a file around 1MB it won't even play, it just keeps loading forever until I shut the application down.

I've used MPEG's and WMA and WMV files. Most of the MPEG's won't even load.

What could be the problem? Lack of processor speed and or RAM? Or do I have to convert the movie file into something the Pocket PC reconizes?

Any help would be appreciated.

So, you are using windows media encoder? If that is so, you need to encode for the lowest pocket pc setting (I think there is a 200kbps and a 128kbps setting or similar). Go with the lowest setting, it should play. Just in case, check your memory, depending on how many programs you have installed in RAM, this could be your problem.

Actually, I find that WMP is really bad for playing back any media file. I downloaded Pocket TV and now I can get frame rates of up to 18FPS. I'm using 200-300kbps at 29FPS. I downloaded an encoder program from PocketTV's website, now the video is very smooth.

However, for WMV files WMP is the only player that can play it. So I had to convert it back to MPEG inorder to make it work. I don't know why they bothered making WMP for the PPC since the video quality is so poor (if you can even call it a video). For a 30 second video I think I saw about 3 different pictures using WMP. For anyone else who has this problem, download Pocket TV! You won't be disappionted.

If you can locate a copy of the Windows Media Technology Preview from around 2001 you'll get much better WMV playback on your E-125. Also a known issue with Windows Media Player on your device is that you cannot use WMP on your PC to transfer movies, you have to do a copy and paste to your storage card.
