Default WLan on h5455

Ok, here it goes.

Today I recived all my WLan equitment, and it din't take long before it was installed and runing on my laptop. I was able to check email and browse the net. Now for the next task, my PDA.

I have done everything I can think of, but without any result
When I am creating a profil I fill out all the fields as if it was for my laptop, but for some reason my PDA can't recive an IP address.

What am I supposed to do?

Looking forward to all your replies.

Can we have more information. How is your network setup. What operating system are you using. Are you using a router.

My internet connection is a x/DSL modem. The cable from the modem goes into an Accesspoint from SMC (Link)
The router is useing DHCP and there is no problem getting an IP for my laptop, and there is plenty of IPs left for other computers (Range 4 to 200)

My laptop is runing Win XP Prof, if that is going to help you.
When it comes to security, then there is a 64 Bit encryption useing WEP. I am not useing 802.1x auth.

Please tell me if there are some detalis you would like to know.

Regards S. Sondergaard

I am sure you tried this but did you try shutting off wep to see if you can connect. IS it an access point or a broadband wireless router? Is it 802.11 b or g? My ipaq 5455 has had problems with g routers even though they are supposed to be backward compatible

Yes I tried turning off the wep function without any result The access point is also working as router for the broadband modem and hub. It is the 802.11G and it is configured so it should be backward compatible, but as you said.

Any ideas of what to do?

oh you have a g router Did you download the wlan update? There is a firmware update that was supposed to resolve the issue.

Update SP24574 is intended to make 54XX series iPAQ's compatible with 802.11g access points. I have not had an opportunity to test it on my 5450.

I have been able to connect to g routers since. You need both the firm update and the wan driver update. If I rememerb correctly I had to install tyeh driver update first.

Ok, I had some updates installed and it didn't work. I will try uninstall all of them and then reinstall and see what is going to happen. As far as I can see I have the Rom updatede to version 1.11.19 when the pocketpc boots up. So what I need would be the firmware for the WLan and the update for the wlan, correct?

Yes, you have to do the rom updte first, then do the firm update. Read the instructions carefully for the firm update. Some people haqd trouble with it. Since I have done it I have been able to connect to g rouuters.
