Default Windows Mobile 5.0

...I finally found the PDA/phone that I wanted at least for now, in the ipaq6945 which I am getting happier with by the day....however I am wondering why windows mobile 5 does not seem to be secure enough to access my bank account like my blackberry 8700g does. My banks online access keeps telling me I need to upgrade browers...why woudn't the latest browser not have the necessary security protocals or is there something I need to tweak?

Your bank probably restricts access based on your browser, and it interprets Internet Explorer Mobile as being a version of IE 4 for the desktop. There are a variety of hacks to correct this, such as Tweaks2k2, that will make IEM be seen as IE 6, and let you log in to your bank account.

There is a small downside to the hacks in that PDA friendly sites will not realize you are accessing via a PDA.

You can try using "commercialized hacks" such as Reensoft's PIE Plus, which is basically an add-on for Pocket Internet Explorer adding additional functionality in an organized manner (through additional buttons and menus). These addons typically have options where you can switch web browser identities on-the-fly. Another option is to use a different web browser altogether, such as NetFront or Opera.

.....Thanks for your help.....neither Opera or Net Front will work with my bank....their answer was that they will no longer support wireless access. I would imagine that my blackberry does not look like a PDA. It seems if I want in I will have to search for the hack and see if it works.
