A 15 inch screen -- even a cheap one -- would typically run SVGA resolution, which is 800 x 600 (= approx 0.5 megapixels). You'd need to consider dot pitch too, which will be smaller on a better monitor.
It's all about pixel density, Scoobie. The LCD pixels on a VGA PDA screen are way smaller than a typical monitor. But so is the image. It will look "sharper" but you will have to view it much closer.
Even an XVGA monitor is not displaying a 2MB image in full resolution (XVGA = 1024 x 768 = 0.8 megapixel).
