Default Unlocking MMC in iPAQ rz1710

Hi, just got a new iPAQ rz1710 and i need help.

Ive been told before that i could unlock my locked mmc in it, but it doesn't even show it anywhere (that i can find). so can anyone please help. I think im looking to hard format the mmc.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i didn't see anywhere better to post this.

And i did use search but found nothing of the sort on this topic so i thought id post it.

Welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts.

Are you referring to the process of formatting the card for access? Because a true software-locked MMC is about as rare as the dodo.

Most cards should already ship pre-formatted, but if your card wasn't endowed that luxury, you have two basic options:

(1) Insert the card into a card reader attached to your PC. It will appear in My Computer. From there, right-click the drive icon and select Format.

(2) Insert the card into your Pocket PC, and use a third-party application such as Spb Pocket Plus or Resco File Explorer to format it.

If you're after something totally different though, let me know.

i used the mmc in my symbian mobile phone. but it locked(as in put a password on itself). I couldn't manage to unlcok it, but some people have said that you can unlock the mmc using pocket pc's.

It isn't recognised in my pc, or my ppc. it is recognised in my phone, but is recognised as locked. and i don't know the password because the phone automatically put the password on itself somehow.

Ah, you had an old Nokia phone, didn't you? The MMC password lock solution drew much criticism when people found out that the only way to clear the password for re-use was to perform a documented procedure known as a "Forced Erase". But if memory serves correctly, that procedure has not yet been implemented in a device. So I can't really think of any other option apart from holding on to that card and buying a new card for use with your Pocket PC.
