Default UNABLE TO SYNCHRONIZE WITH ACTIVE SYNC

I have a IPAQ 2215, I really don't know what happened, I recently installed a program that took up all the remaining memory on my ipaq, the ipaq refused to come on so i did a sofr reset which worked, then I deleted some files on the ipaq to free up some space but since then i have been unable to perform active sync.
I use a USB cable which is detected by the computer but I get messages on the computer saying "COM port 4 not open" On the ipaq there is also an error message "XCEScheduler files cannot be found"
I have tried everything installed and reinstalled microsoft active sync.
Pls help. :roll:

I am thinking some of the files you deleted may have been another program that now is not working right - see the link here -

Maybe you installed this same piece of PPC software and all thats needed is a reinstall and uninstall of it?

Default unable to synchronize

I deleted some programs from my ipaq but the icons are still on the pocket pc how do I get rid of them completely.
I am still getting the message "unable to synchronise with active sync".
pls help

Open File Explorer and go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Simply tap-and-hold the relevant files and select Delete.

Can you check the following for me?

(1) Open up ActiveSync on your Pocket PC, and select Tools > Options. Select the computer you synchronise with, and select Options. Ensure USB is selected.
(2) Open up ActiveSync on your PC, and select File > Connection Settings. Is USB ticked?
(3) Which version of ActiveSync have you got installed?
(4) Also, have you tried another USB port?

Thanks for the reply, i had active sync 3.7 initially yhen I downloaded and installed 3.8 after all this started. I tried all the steps u mentioned, the USB is working fine, i think it tries to sync but does not complete it.
Any other alternative?

What components have you set it to synchronise? Also, what software have you got installed (and uninstalled recently)? IIRC, "XCEScheduler" belongs to some 3rd party software and has been known to cause a couple of problems in the past.

Thanks for the reply, i recently installed and uninstalled "mobile PDR", I also uninstalled "mobi pocket reader, theradoc and archemedes", all these are medical software.
Its set to sync with avant go, file notes,mobile merck medicus, skyscape.

Interestingly, some medical software I've tried before have caused synchronisation problems (you're not the only one that uses them :P). So my suggestion at this stage is to uninstall and reinstall your medical software and see how that goes.

You could also try synchronising with another computer (just set up a basic synchronisation profile). If that does work, we'll be able to pinpoint the problem to either your PC or Pocket PC.
