Default Strange 2215 Problem

Just recently, my new 2215 started to act strangely. I could probably do a hard reset, since I just got it and it wouldn't be that hard to reinstall everything, but let me see if anyone here has any ideas.

One problem is that, at random times when I try to turn it on, it won't go on. This happens occasionally, and a soft reset always works, but it is annoying. Also, sometimes the clock will have the wrong time, like the time it was the last time I used it, so it seems like the screen's not updating. Taping the clock gets it to update. It sometimes also has a "1" before the time, not like it switched to military time, but like it just forgot to remove the 1 from 10:00/11:00/12:00. For example, when it should say 4:29, it'll say 14:29. Tapping the clock fixes that too.

Another problem is that the Today screen seems not to be updating sometimes. For example, I turned it on before and the Today background was there, but there was no Today info (text, lines, anything- just the background). Opening the Start Menu then closing it showed the part of the Today screen that the Start Menu covered when it was opened, and tapping the clock, to bring up Time and Next Appointments dialog, then closing it, brought back the rest. So, again, it would seem like the screen isn't updating properly.

I tried soft resetting obviously, and also disabled Spb Pocket Plus in case that was causing it. It's still doing it. Any ideas?

I know that my 2215 was having one of the problems you described. Every once in a while, it would not turn on and I'd have to soft reset it. I've since turned off WisBar and now my PPC seems to be working fine.

I haven't experienced any of the other problems you are having though.

i've heard the builtin iPaq Backup can cause problems, particularly if you schedule backups.... maybe try updating it to the more recent version from SpriteSoft's site, or disabling it....

Hmm, I don't really have anything like WISBar. Which is what's strange, because except for Pocket Plus, I don't have any programs always running in the background.

Strange.

You know what? I actually tried using the built in backup app to schedule backups, but it never managed to actually turn it on at the scheduled time. It'd try to backup the first time I turned it on in the morning, but I couldn't wait so I'd always close it. I just disabled it yesterday. I was going to mention this, but thought it was unrelated. Maybe it's not...

It hasn't actually not turned on since I disabled it, but it has had the Today and clock problem today, so I don't know if it's completely responsible. Maybe it's not completely closed?

Strange.
And why don't you think that Pocket Plus is the culprit? Just unload it to see what happens.

Well, in terms of the power thing, my idea just failed. I disabled WisBar and I still have the power problem.

That's funny. Could it be a hardware bug?

In another thread, someone indicated that simply disabling or uninstalling spb is not sufficient, because it has damaged your registry. You actually have to do a hard reset. that requires pressing the two outside buttons (Calendar, iTask) while pressing the reset button.

Wait, I realized Pocket Plus had some problems, but I didn't realize this was known to be one of them. Hmm, so I have to do a hard reset? Could be worse (my old Dell died about half the time it came out of suspend or hibernation... it took me nearly a year to get them to admit it was a hardware problem and replace it  ).
