Default static in recorder/ipaq 5555

has anyone noticed that there seems to be a lot of static in the recorder or is it just mine. I looked on the hp sight to see if there was a fix but didn't see any thing. My sound quality stinks. Prior to owning the 5555 I owned the 3900 and than the 5400 I never had the statis in the others.

Try changing your Voice recorder format.

Go to Settings/Personal/Input/Options

I believe the default setting is GSM 6.10/8,000 Hz, Mono (2 KB/s). If you change it to, say, 22,050 Hz, 16 bit, Mono (22 KB/s) your quality will improve drastically. You'll eat up about 10 x as much memory for your voice recordings, but that might not be a problem depending on how much voice recording you do.

When I record anything with my 4350 I also find there is an unacceptable amount of static: regardless of recording quality. Then I tried it out with an external microphone (you know the ones you use on a pc (or a standard mic) jack). I assume the mic worked on my PPC as there was alot less static when I tried recording with it.

The 4350 has an external mic jack? Well that's cool. I wish mine had that.
