ROM update and weird problem

palur Intellectual Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 197		ROM update and weird problem I just updated the ROM to 1.11.19. Everything opens fast. The WMP opens in a jiffy. Then I insert my SD card and do soft rest and It takes ages to open the WMP. No additional software installed till now. Then take out the SD card and do soft rest again and WMP opens in a jiffy. I repeated this process several times and I have the same WEIRD problem. HELP please. :?:

Server Ponderer Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 72		I just ran your test and I don't see the same. It takes about 3-4 seconds to load perhaps a little slow but not 'ages' as you say. There may be a problem reading your files on your sd card. Keep in mind there was a significant update to the card reader so perhaps this may have affected you?

palur Intellectual Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 197		It did not open for more than 1 minute. The problem comes only after you do soft rest with Sd card in slot. Take out the SD and soft rest and reinsert the SD the WMP still opens fast but not after soft rest with SD in slot.

Server Ponderer Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 72		sounds very odd. This does not happen with my unit (reset or otherwise) You didnt restore an old backup after applying 1.11 rom did you??

Hmm just tried it on my 5455, and I'm not seeing it, WMP pop up for me, after less than 2 or 3 second. I've got a 512 MB SD card, and a bunch of mp3 on it. And that was while it was down loading my email to.

palur Intellectual Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 197		Thank you all. I called HP tech support and he went step by step with me as Even by inserting the SD card my WMP was not opening at all. So he made download flash format on to my ipaq after I backed up the SD card files through card reader. We formatted the SD card and behold everything worked fine since then. I have not yet tried downloading MP3s on to my SD card. But even after several third party softwares installation I can still open WMP pretty fast. Kudos to HP tech for a change.
