Default Recommendation?

I've decided it's finally time to replace my old Jornada 540 and I was contemplating an iPAQ since HP has been good to me in the past. I was looking at the hx2415 but I was hoping I could get some suggestions.

If anyone could give me some feedback on what they might recommend I'd appreciate it.

You may want to check out the threads linked from http://www.pocketpcmag.com/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=14782 . They are mostly VGA-related, but there're a lot of talk about QVGA devices like the hx2415 in there too.

Thanks, those links really helped me out. I looked it over and I think I've got it narrowed down. Though I've got a couple similar questions to some I saw that I didn't really see an answer to.

I guess the big one is, is the $100 really worth it for the 2755? Because I think I'd rather save my money, but I dont want to shoot myself in the foot by getting the 2415 and then ending up not having enough RAM. The general consensus seemed to be more RAM = good.

As far as use, I might do a little retro-gaming on it, some old NES games or something, but mostly I intend to do office work and eBooks with it.

Once again, thanks.

If your only going to be doing light gaming and office work, then the 2750 might be overkill.

I got the 2750 because I was wanting to start getting into GPS (maps can be pretty taxing RAM wise), and I like playing GBA games in morphgear (very taxing processor-wise).

In general RAM=Good, so MORE RAM=Better, but if you're not really using any of that, then there's no need to get it. And really, the 2400 is going to be a substantial enough jump from your Jornada, that I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Though, there is always the idea of getting the best device you can now, and hopefully stave off that device becoming obsolete just a little longer. That and the ruomors are that Magneto (WinMobile2005) will use RAM just for RAM, and ROM for storage. To me that might be a vote for "wait and see" (Or wait for WinMobile2005 devices to come out and buy a 2750 then for a lot less).

Just my 2 cents.

the 2415 has plenty of rom space.
if you install all applications in the rom, you'll end up with enough free ram space for your needs.

Well, the lack of 128M RAM can be certainly combated by moving application DLL's and entire programs (even if they are not movable by default - a case of for example, of all phone-related apps produced by Pocket Presence - see my hacks at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...r=asc&start=30 ). 100 US$ for just an additional 64M of RAM is too much IMHO.

You want to check

http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...ic.php?t=36622

on some tricks on making the main RAM clear on 64M devices.
