Problems with iPAQ 4700 Extended Battery 3600mah

I just received the extended battery, but it doesn't seem to fit correctly. I need to use some power to get the battery with its tray into its place.

Since I don't want to break the contact-pins of the ipaq, I have one question: do the contact-faces (?) of the battery have to be on the same side as the normal battery? (the ipaq has contact-pins on both sides)
