Default Pins pushed back in Switch Board Assembly

I have a Ipaq 5550. I have been having problems using the sync cable so i looked at the connecter on the ipaq and found that 2 pins are pushed back and cant connect with the cable. I opened up my ipaq to see if i could push the pins back but the thumb scanner is right behind it can i guess covering the back of the pins. Is it possible to remove the thumb scan and then put it back after i get the pins pushed back?

Thanks

There is a pic at http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/view_product.php?product=4
