Well.. I have a 3600 series ipaq and use a cf card for storage.. just recently though I got a pcmcia adapter for the cf card to plug into so I could just manually add mp3s etc to the card w/o going through the whole "double click on mobile device, then storage card.. etc." worked fine on the pc end.. I could see my files and interact with them... even add mp3s just like I had hoped... now the problem comes in when I re-insert the cf back into my ipaq... no files that were manually added to the card from the laptop are detected on the card... to further complicate this... any files that were deleted from the card (via laptop) are gone... hmmm, so I can delete files directly but I have to use the long method to add files?? wha...? 8O Has anyone else had a similar experiance?

Check to see if you have a "My Documents" directory on the CF. The older iPaqs required all data files to be under the MD folder. Sub folders are fine, as long as they are below the MD folder.
Use your PC to move the files into the MD folder and you should see 'em.... they're there...your PPC just can't see them. :way to go:

That's not quite true. While the older Windows Media Player is not able to display or play files that aren't in the My Documents folder (or its subfolders), File Explorer can show the files if you browse to that directory. So the Pocket PC can "see" the files; it's Windows Media Player that can't see them.

He doesn't even have to move the files using his PC; using File Explorer to move the files from the root to My Documents should allow them to be played. (Of course, if he has a lot of files, using the PC will certainly be more efficient as you can use multiple selection.)

NOTE: I just tested the above on my old 3650. My 3870 can see files in the storage card's root.
