Default iPAQ Connectors

Are (for the most part - I think the 1900 series connectors were decidely different) all iPAQ connectors the same?

Specifically, I'm wondering if the rx3715 with the universal connector is the same as my 3955's. It looks the same, but if some wire placements were switched, I don't want to fry my new toy when trying to use my power adapter for the car.

Thanks,

They're all the same, fortunately.

Actually, the 1900 series connectors are exactly the same as those of the other, 38xx+ iPAQ's. I woulnd't have believed that: a guy at work has a 1940. First, I woulnd't let him to test whether my 2210 works with his 1940 cable. And it worked!

So, I don't know why some people think they use different cables - they are the same. It's just that the serial port circuitry is missing from all 19xx devices. Still, all USB/charging cables are interchangeable.

IIRC, the ones used on the h1900 series are inverted - that is, they're flipped the other way around.

Fantastic. One less new accessory needed. (Actually, that's about the only accessory I would have needed (except a cradle for work) since wireless is integrated.)

Thanks!

Yes, they are - at first, this is why I coulnd't put the 1940 USB/charger cable in my 2210. When inverted, however, works great. So, they ARE compatible.

Don't try an h1940 in an h2210 cradle though - it doesn't fit. Darn.

Don't try getting a keyboard designed for the 2200/4100/etc for your 1900 either, or get a mirror with it as your screen will be facing away from you.

The 3700 and 3800 iPaqs did have a different connector. Everything since then has been the same (except for the unfortunate 1900 reversals). The only glitches sometimes come form the curve on the bottom of the older iPaqs compared to the straight bottom of the new ones. The connector on some keyboards is curved to conform to the old devices and doesn't allow the new ones to seat.
