Default ipaq 3970 sync with bluetooth

Hi

Maybe stupid question but I can sync all contacts etc with my ipaq and laptop using the usb cradle provided but cannot with my bluetooth connection. I have paired the devices and can transfer files to the ipaq but would like to setup them both to sync outlook when both are in range.
Is this possible ?

Thanks for any help .

You'll not be able to have then doing this in "auto" mode when in range, but you can start manually.

Make sure the devices are paired.

From the H3970 tap on the BT icon, select the icon corresponding to the desktop/notebook and select the box "Activesync partner" in the next screen. In the same screen tap the Actions menu. Then select "Connet to Serial".

After this you can repeat and disconnect.

Then in your ActiveSync Connection Settings select the same COM port created as a server in your Bluetooth device (dekstop/notebook side).

Make sure your AS is configure to always sync or sync when connected (manual will not work).

From the H3970 then tap the Bluetooth icon, and select Start ActiveSync.

That should do.

Ok..

I have done the instructions on the ipaq and it now says my laptop is a activesync partner and I connected it to bluetooth serial port .
going to my laptop I have a choice of 1 to 9 com ports and one ir port .
I have tried all ports but still not connecting.
I have tried to do it with the automatic setting but does not find it...
I thought it would have been 7 or port 8.?
Both devices are bonded...what am I doing wrong ?

Thanks

It would help to know what bluetooth device you have on your PC. On a 3Com device it wil be the Com port show by itself at the top box. On the widcomm stack 1.3.2.7 you can find it as the last entry on the Client Applications page as Bluetooth Serial Port.

Note that this port must be less than 10, and if you have loaded the bluetooth software more than once it may be much higher than 10.
