Default hx4700 WM5 Backup

Am I missing something, or did HP remove the iPAQ Backup utility with the WM5 upgrade? And, did M$ also remove the backup feature from Activesync 4.1??

I know persistent memory means data does not get lost, but is HP & M$ saying that we no longer need to do any type of backup at all. I must be missing something here.

Yes, it seems to be missing from the WM5 upgrade. Maybe HP and Microsoft thought that we didn't need it anymore as we wont lose our data if our batteries die out.
Anyhows, I went on to Sprite Software's website and found a $15 upgrade at http://www.spritebackup.com/up50.php. You can read a good review of it here http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=517&more=1.
Considering that we now have to pay for doing backups on our hx4700's, I went on looking for other backup software and found the following summary of alternatives http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=497&more=1.

I'm still not sure which backup solution I'll end up using, but I'll make sure to post a followup in here in case I find a good one

bbrockie,

Don't upgrade your Sprite backup software: It doesn't work! It's not compatible with HP's new security software in WM5. On Sprite's website, they state that they're still in the process of working something out with HP.
