Default How to treat your battery?

Dear all:

How do you treat your battery, i.e. how do you charge your battery?

What is the right way to charge PPC battery to get good performance or, at least, not to hurt the battery?

I posted a question on a forum, please refer: http://www.linearlogix.com/discus/me...tml?1048731743

Are their advice correct?

Thank you very much.

Alex

That's about right. But I disagree with the freezing of Li-Ion batteries. I read on a different article that an 80% discharge is considered shallow and acceptable but not more than that if you want to keep these batteries in good condition. Continuous deep discharges causes more crystallization than normal with every discharge. This is why the battery dies (nolonger holds a charge) under regular use and quicker with deep discharges. Most rechargeables will last from 1-5 years depending on usage.

I try to keep my PDA charged as much as possible but there are times when I can't. These are mobile devices, so if you can't always keep your device charged don't lose any sleep over it. I know I don't. But if you need to store it for a long period of time, then do it with about 40% power left and put the PDA in store mode (as per your manual).

You might want to see the "Another newbie question" thread, where battery life was discussed earlier.

Well, Chuck, who started the thread, seems to be the leader of one of the top Pocket PC servicing companies out there, so I'd guess he knows what he's talking about. :-)
