How can I check when my manufacturers warranty runs out

Some time ago the manufacturers warranty on my Compaq iPAQ 3850 was extended. I remember reading a thread on this site or Brighthand whereby you could go to the Compaq web site type your serial number in and find out when your warranty expired. Now I've tried this on the HP site and the serial number is listed as invalid. However what should I enter for my model number - assumed 3850.
