Default Help me understand - 2215 built-in bluetooth not Wi-Fi

The 2215 is a very sexy PPC, the size is great, has dual expansion slots and a great screen. But why does it have bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi?? I am a tech geek and understand bluetooth but practical applications are far and few right now(I know what you can do with it so you do not have to explain). I want to use bluetooth but I believe today, in this market, Wi-Fi should come before bluetooth; I really have a problem using a Wi-Fi card that is going to stick out of my PPC. Maybe I am just oppsessing over built-in wi-fi, which is most likely, but I can not be the only one with this complaint. Why do you think HP did this??

Had to ask,

Cory

I think it was because the 2215 was not designed as HP's "high end" PPC. They probably left WiFi out to keep the price and size down.

Sure wifi is more widespread than bluetooth, but to buy the gear to connect to the internet through your computer is cheaper (assuming you dont have a wireless network already).

Also, surfing via Bluetooth is easier on the battery than wifi.

If it is really that important to you, consider the 5550.

Personally, I bought the 2210 because it had the capability to be expanded via CF, but so far, I have not had a need to get a Wifi card. Even though I have a wifi network, I find that Bluetooth serves my needs well.

Just my 2c. YMMV.

I'm using both WiFi and Bluetooth with my 2210. As I use my PDA in a few different ways I find it nice to have both. I didn't go for the 55XX series as I prefer the samll size and lighter form of the 2210.

The bluetooth is OK for surfing but I don't find it as fast as the WiFi. Also, I can use the bluetooth with easySMS (http://www.siedler-net.de/WinCE/easySMS/) and still surf via WiFi without impacting the perfomance or either.

Personally, I like the flexibility of having both.

I do like having the flexablity of both but my biggest hang up is my campus is mostly wireless and I have an access point in my house. I do not want to spend the money on the 5555 plus it is to large and does not have CF built-in(i can never win). I will most likely end up getting the 2215, I am not buying if to surf the web, I would just like that option (I would have to buy a dongle if I want to use bluetooth)

Thanks,

Cory
