Default h2210 or hx2110?

Hey guys,

I want to buy a pocket pc in about 2 weeks, but I don't know what to buy, the h2210 or the hx2110 (I live in Europe), the last one is only €10,- more then the h2210, and has 2x 64mb in stead of 2x 32, but I don't know if the hx2110 has a compact flash slot (the hp site isn't very usefull with that, they say two different things...) And how about the processor speed? The 2210 has a 400mhz cpu and the 2110 a 312 or something like that, but I don't know if that matters because they're both different types of cpu...

Maybe it's just like Intel and AMD.

Anyway, I can't find any reviews which compare these 2 devices (I can'd find a review of the hx2110 at all :S) so I hope you can help me!

I've found this so far:

It are both XScale cpu's, but the 2210 is a 255 and the 2110 a 270

Quote:
While the T5's 416 MHz processor runs at a clock speed very close to its predecessor, the 400 MHz T3, the T5's processor is a newer generation PXA270. Compared to the T3's PXA255, the 270 offers improved power-saving features, and increased efficiency of CPU cycles.
But I don't know what's faster... the newer 270 or the older 255

The newer 270s are faster, of course. besides their higher clock speeds, their increased efficiency means that they're still faster than a 255 even at the same clock speed.

Yes I know that, but the clock speed of the 2210 CPU is 400mhz and the 2110 is 312 mhz... So I was wondering if the 270 has the same 'real' speed and capabilities as the 2210, because of the lower clock speed on the 2110...

if i were you i wouldnt mind the speed difference between these devices. 2215 is a very solid device, i am using my device for more than 1 year and never had any problems. but 2215 is a little bit older device compared to 2110.

i would definately get the newer device, because hp has abandoned 2215, and amount of increased ram is more important than 80 mHz of cpu clock speed

Thanks for your reply, but I'd like to have some more people thinking the same way about this, so any other ppl who thinks Kowalski is right?

Yes, go with the hx2110. The h2215, while good, has retired. You'll also get the newer WM2003SE OS with the newer model.

The 312 MHz 270 should perform on about the same level as the 400 MHz 255.

I'd go for the hx2110 because:

- it also has a CF slot
- much as it's "only" 312 MHz, the speed difference isn't that big
- it has WM2003SE, as opposed to WM2003
- it has a new BT Widcomm stack that can be upgraded to the latets goodies (Wi-Fi headphone, see http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...c.php?p=319797 ). The 2210 can't.
- the 2210 won't likely get any upgrades any more; the hx2110 is a newer and current model, so it may even receive the WM2005 upgrade (but I woulnd't bet my life on it, knowing HP's recent upgrade policy history...)

BTW, if you're European, why don't you get a local (meaning: because of the lack of customs, far cheaper) model? The Pocket Loox 420 is exactly the same as the iPAQ 4150, and, except for being a bit aged (BT isn't upgradable, WM2003 only), and the lack of CF, it has Wi-Fi, which can be much more useful than e.g. WM2003SE.

Hehe, you're the same guy as on brighthand :P
I'll copy mu post.

Thanx for your reply
CF is pretty important for me because my digicam also has a CF slot, so I'd like to see the pictures I made with my camera on my pocketpc. And I have some CF memory cards so I don't have to buy any SD cards... That's pretty much the main reason, but I'll concider it

Oh btw, the 420 is €351 and the hx2110 is 359, so the price doesn't matter
