Default E Mail settings on iPaq 4150

I have just bought an ew iPaq and I'm having trouble with the e mail. I can receive them ok but I don't seem to be able to send. The mails just remain in "drafts" the connection seems ok (I assume it must be if it can recieve) Does anyone have any ideas please?

Hi burton lumley, welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts.

It may be a lot easier to solve this problem if you could let us know what kind of connection you have established on your iPAQ. Do you have it connected to your PC via ActiveSync or are you connected through a network?

Thanks.

Sorry! New to all this!
I am connecting via bluetooth to my phone (Nokia 6230) and I'm accessing an email account with vigin.net. I seem to be able to receive fine. I have tested it by sending from my work e mail account. The problem arises when I try to reply. The iPaq connects, logs in, says finished and logs out but the mails don't go!

I'm not 100% aware of the details governing your contract with your service provider, but have you investigated that you can send and receive mail through your current phone plan?

Also, it may help to have a look at your phone's BT settings to ensure there is no setting affecting outgoing emails. At this stage, from the brief details you have provided, I don't think it is a problem related with your iPAQ. Do you have a computer with Bluetooth connectivity? It may help to see if you can send through a PC-phone connection. If you can, that's great (to an extent), then we can limit the problem down to the iPAQ. If you can't, then I'd be looking at a non-iPAQ related cause.

Many mail servers will allow you to receive mail with not much more than an address and user name, but to send mail you need to have the correct password for your account set correctly. Just relating my experience.

Regarding your post above, are you trying to sync your mail (The mails just remain in "drafts") or are you actually tapping "SEND" and then connecting to your mail provider. In other words, is your message stuck in the "Drafts" folder or the "Outgoing" folder? You can sync multiple folders with your desktop when running Active Sync, but when connecting via Bluetooth through your phone, you can basically just send and receive messages.
