Default Disable WiFi? (4155)

I am considering the 4155 (vs. 2215). With the 4155, can you turn off WiFi so it does not try to snoop out connections? I have a need to connect WiFi about 20% of the time, so I want to conserve battery by only turning it on when I need it.

TIA

Two if you stick the iPaq Wireless manager on a Today Screen Launcher
