Default cannot connect iPaq 6515 to laptop using bluetooth

Dear Forum,

I am trying to conect my Ipaq 6515 to a HP pavillion notebook zt3352ap - I use windows XP sp2.

I have no "Bluetooth Devices" control panel.

I connect using the cradle, Activesync works. I then go to Bluetooth Places on my desktop, and search using the Bluetooth setup wizard. It finds the iPaq but when I try to pair the devices. It then gives me an error that it cannot pair the devices and says click connect on the back of the HID - whatever that means.

In my computer's bluetooth places I have Bluetooth serial port shortcut. It is com 7, 6,7,9 and 10 are buetooth com ports accoring to my device manager.

On the iPaq I have 2 shortcuts for serial port and active sync, and nothing works.

Can anyone help?

All the Best

Bill Z

Hi,

I'm assuming you have Bluetooth built into your notebook or desktop machine. If the iPAQ 6515 works like my iPAQ 4355, I make sure Bluetooth is turned on for bothe the desktop and the handheld. Then I go to Bluetooth Setup Wizard on the iPAQ and go into the process of pairing the device. The iPAQ then finds my desktop and asks for a PIN. I type that in and the desktop responds with a dialog asking for the PIN. I type the same PIN into the desktop and the iPAQ screen tells me I'm paired.

It's been so long I may have missed something but I'm sure someone else will chime in if I did.

Best,

<BILL><

Dear Bill,

Thanks for your reply. I had been doing what you suggested and the machines were not pairing. Fortunately someone suggested the following URL:-

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=1423.

which is a guide

“Bluetooth ActiveSync guide for Windows Mobile 2003"

I did that and it is now working.

Thanks again for your contribution.
