Default Barcode Scanner attachment for iPAQ

ops: I know nothing about Pocket PC's but I assume you guys all know a lot.

Could someone help me to find out if you can get attachments/accessories for either 36.., 37.. or 38.. series iPAQ handheld that will allow them to scan a barcode. I have the software application required for this but not the hardware.

Also, can you get a small digital camera attachment for the same that allows for photos to be taken and stored directly into Pocket PC?

I would appreciate any advice or help to find those who may sell these items.

Thanks

There are 2 barcode sleeves made by Symbol. One is scan only, the other does scanning and 802.11b. They can be found at

Nexian is coming out with a camera sleeve which is also on teh above page.

There are also several compact flash and pcmcia type scanners by Socket for the Pocket PC. They can be found at

Laser scanners are expensive in general. Especially in vertical markets where Socket plays. You're paying for the effort to do the integration and hardware/software development for a relatively narrow market compared to the consumer market. They're very high quality and have a price that tends to reflects the level of effort.

It also doesn't hurt when you're the only one doing it...

Yeah, bummer. But you're dealing with a vertical market wth lower volumes than retail. Plus the scan engines are expensive. The unit does have a built in battery though... 8)
