Default 5555 vs 4150 -- Help!!! What the future for 5XXX line?

I can't find any good opions on this one, but I'll try again:

My 2215 is breaking -- I'm going to return it with my exchange plan. Do I wait for 4155 or go with the 5555???

What do you guys think?

Small 4155? or Large 5555 with 128mb? -- and the 5555 can be expanded with sleeves (though I hate using them -- but it's to know that I can always add functionality via the sleeve).

Anyone know the future of the 5xxx line?

The 5xxx series of iPAQs seem to be geared more towards corporate users and the others are more consumer orientated. If you like wifi & BT built-in or (like me ) prefer a larger screen and lots of memory get the 5555. All models will be replaced sooner or later. So get what you need or like now, don't keep waiting for the next best thing (there will always be something cooler 8) ).

I've got a 5550 and like it alot. That said if I didn't own it I'd personally be waiting for the 4000 series unit with the built in keyboard. For my uses I didn't really need 128mb of ram on the 5550 and it was very expensive to buy. I don't know if I'd dislike going to a smaller screen though. On things for sure after trying the 2000 series at futureshop the 5550 takes more pressure to register a tap on the screen.

Default 2 to 1!!!

Wow - l'm suprised at the split -- I thought it would be closer... Any one (else) care to share why they picked one over the other?

Also... what was the final decision on speed comparisons between the 2215 and 5555? (assuming/hoping the 4000's are as fast as the 2000's)

I'd wait and get the smaller of the 4000 series, unless keyboards are your thing, in which case the other model is roughly the same size as the 5000 series. I bought the h2210 and think that even it is a bit too thick for my tastes, plus it's also a lot cheaper.

For me form factor is a very big deal. Once I heard that the H415x was almost the same size as the 1910 but would also have BT and WLAN, not to mention SD, I knew that would be my next purchase. The Axim X3 sounds like a very good unit as well, but the size of the H415x will be awesome, given the features it packs.

A good friend at work purchased a 5555 and he really likes it, but he wears it on his belt...and this baby will fit in my pocket. Alghough you can only sync data in main memory via activesync, so what - store your applications on your SD card so you can better utilize the 64 megs of RAM instead of 128 on the 5555. I cannot wait for tomorrow. Way to go HP!

Thing is how long is the 1000mah battery in the 415x going to last when you're using wi-fi, i bought an extended battery for my 5450 so that i could use wi-fi for a meaningful time and still have juice left over for other apps. I'm not a big fan of the 'new' HP but you've got to hand it to them, at least they're trying to make the kind of ppc's that people want

I'd go for the 5555....

My number 1 rule with computer "Stuff" -- go for maximum expandability -- that doctrine always seems to give you more options and generally a device that can last longer (technologically speaking) because you can add features/functionality as and when needed.

I am in the same situations and I must say that for me the 4150 is the way to go. The size is awesome!! I had the 2215 and returned it because I really wanted WiFi built in. If I start using WiF a lot but I could always but the 1800mAh extended battery for the 4150 and it will still be the smallest WiFi PDA out there. Form Factor is the most important thing in handhelds. They are ment to be carryed, not lugged around.

Can not wait to get it

Default want it in my hand...

Thanks everyone for your help!!! Here's what I've decided:

When it hits the store (CompUSA), I will hold them both in my hand. IF there is no BIG difference in how it feels to me -- and how it feels in my pocket, then I will gravitate to the 5555. I have sleeved from my 3650, an extra battery from my 5450 -- would all go to good use!

If the 4150 REALLY feels much nicer in the hand/pocket (and I mean MUCH) then I will forgo the bigger screen, added memory, and expandability.

One last question: Anyone know what the future of the 5000 line is? Will it be dropped after 2003?
