Default 5455 Extra Battery...THE DETAILS

Just received a 54xx slim battery from Mobile Planet. This puppy is the same battery that ships with the 5455 iPaq (Denmark version) and includes an adapter to allow charging with the external iPaq charger (the charger that can be used to juice up expansion pack batteries).

Very cool!

Ok got a part number for that puppy? Or better yet a link? How about a picture of the adapter? I'd like to see that, as Hp doesn't seem to want to talk about it.

Thanks
David

Terry,

Which charger is required? The AC/DC block charger with the DC plug(253629-001) or the stand-up battery charging system(253516-B21)? All the info says is optional battery charger.

I just bought my 5450 2 weeks ago. 1-1/2 weeks ago, HP 1st tier support did not have part#290484-B21 in their system. 2nd tier engineer didn't know what I was talking about. Only 2 of the many HP/Compaq shop links at their listed the slim battery. I couldn't get an answer which charger was compatible with this battery.

HP/Compaq really needs to get their act together.

BTW, I still think it's a great product... at least for business use, little pricey for average consumers.

The charger is:

MobilePlanet #: MP965278
HP #: 253516-B21
http://www.mobileplanet.com/product....SSBAKQTTLQ6G6C

The battery is:

MP #: MP965298
Mfr #: 290484-B21
http://www.mobileplanet.com/product....SSBAKQTTLQ6G6C

The battery comes with a black plastic adapter that snaps on the charger (similar to expansion pack batteries), then the silver slim battery snaps on the black plastic adapter. With the adapter, the slim battery can even snap on an expansion pack. 0X

Slick! I like the charger. Reminds me of the SE travel charger for the T68/T39. Could that charger be used on a cigarette charger for the Ipaq? In other words, is the power cord detachable? Or is there even a power cord for it at all?

Terry,

Thanks! It seems you know more about the battery options than HP tech support.

Only thing I need now is a MAME that supports newer ROMs.

Yes! The power adapter/cord is the same model that comes with the cradle ... so a 12V iPaq car adapter will fit. I don't know how well it will charge but it will fit.
