Default 3850 freezes in cradle

when i insert my 3850 into it's cradle, it charges, as normal. If it is off, it turns on and stays on. However, if i turn it off while it is in the cradle, it freezes, with the amber light still flashing (if i pull it out), but everything else not working. Once i soft reset, things are ok again, but things like the clock is frozen on the time i turned it off. :x

I recently installed an MS service pack - that may be the problem - is it possible to remove it, or has anyone encountered similar problems. Any suggestions welcomed!

Thanks
