They've given away a TON of cool books this summer - it's been a great ride!

I hope that the MS promotion is going to help eBooks become more mainstream, I've certainly ehanced my liberary nicely thanks to this.

There are some problems with the campaign of course, not least the fact that most people are unaware of it and the difficulties of actually downloading and opening the books.

I wonder how many new eBook fans this promotion has created?

Me for one, although not necessarily a fan of MS Reader. I've begun converting to Mobipocket. Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy is the free one this past summer that really got me interested. Now I can't stop. Fighting Ali, Shoeless Joe, A Short History of Nearly Everything...the list goes on.

They have done a great job of selecting books...

I would imagine that just about anyone could have found a book that appealed to their reading tastes...

If they knew about it, that is...

Yes they have Steve. Obviously some weeks have had more books to my taste than others, but the point was clearly to appeal to the most diverse range of preferences. It's also mean't that I have read a few books that I wouldn't normally, must be good.

I think we still have a few weeks left as well, we will all have some good reading to keep us going through the winter.

The last weeks books (the ones Steve mentions) are still on the MS Reader site. http://www.microsoft.com/reader/prom.../free_shop.asp

If you want them, download them quick because at some time today they will be replaced. There is no way to get the earlier ones.

It's not possible for someone to e-mail you the files. You have to download them to your own activated PC. Although they are free from MS they do have the latest version of the DMS.
