Default Windows Media Encoder

I've been playing with Windows Media Encoder recently. So far my computer hasn't encoded anything faster than 16 frames/sec. I have it set on 29.9 but it's not going that fast. Is this normal? My pc is pretty fast (2.8 Ghz).

You're a bit confused. ;-) The frames per second actually encoded is a measure of your computer's speed, whereas the 29.9 fps setting is what the eventual file will be when the process is finished. If you want faster encoding speeds, you'll need a faster CPU. :-)

My 2.6 GHz PC struggles with Windows Media Encoder too. I'd suggest at least 3GHz with hyperthreading
