What's "metering data" in latest WMP patch (929399)
In the latest Windows Media Player 11 patch, it says it corrects for "metering data" problems.
To qoute "Subscription music services cannot extract metering data from portable devices that support metering. This problem occurs when the services try to synchronize metering data on a client computer that is running the Microsoft Windows Media Format 11 Software Development Kit (SDK) and Microsoft Windows XP."
1) What is metering data?
2) My Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) running Windows Mobile 5.0 doesn't update "play count" and "date last played" fields when I sync with my PC running XP and WMP 11 (at least not all the time, which is doubly frustrating:
a) does "metering data" have anything to do with this failure to update?
b) Anyone know how to fix my play count/date last played problem?
