Default Sound (line-in) Recording?

hi everybody. great site!!!! I bookmarked it right away I'm shopping for a new PDA. This site persuaded me to switch from Palm OS to Pocket PC :devilboy:

I have a question for all you Pocket PC guru's.

Can you do line-in (aux) recording on Pocket PC's? (The one I'm looking in particular is Dell Axim X50v)

Thanks a lot!

First, welcome to the board

There're no AUX inputs on any PPC's. There're mike inputs on some PDA's (on the x50v too), but they're

1, meant for mikes (I think with pre-amplifier so their input level can be quite similar to the 'standard' line-in input level though, meaning connecting a standard line-out device to your Axim won't result in heavy overdriving of the sound-in amplifier of your unit)

2, monophonic. There're no PDA's with stereo mike inputs.

You may want to have a look at (mostly HDD-based) mp3 players instead of PDA's if you want to record stereo sources digitally, without paying several hundreds of dollars on recording solutions like PDAudio. Almost all of them offer some kind of recording capabilities; some even have stereo line-in jacks. My cheap MamboX P353 ( http://mambox.com/P353.htm ), for example, has one, and, AFAIK, all the iRiver devices (which are, of course, a "bit" more expensive).
