Satellite radio on ppc (xmradio)
For any other music aficionados, have you tried (or succeeded?) in getting the on-line xmradio music streaming to work on your ppc? XM says they see no reason why it would not work, although the app is not optimized for our small screens, and dealing with the interface would be problematic.
I'm planning to try this later this weekend, but wondered ahead of time whether anyone else had attempted this, with xm or with sirius.
Now that XM is bumping their price but including the XMRO, I thought it was time to play with it... but definitely a BIC issue.
(I usually lurk here, but came out for musical assitance.)  |

We've gotten to the "listen now" point, but have an error stating our browser does not support iframes. Is this then a PIE problem?
Sorry for not mentioning this before, but this is strictly a US radio issue. Thanks again.

Okay, not much interest in this one. I'm surprised, I would have thought someone might have tried streaming satrad on their ppc. Seems from looking around the various forums that no one else has succeeded either. Perhaps in future if someone gets this to work, they might update this thread.

temporarily (until xm or sirius addresses this problem, which may NOT be in their best interest as it could potentially hurt their business i.e. people just paying less for internet streams) you can stream the stream via windows media encoder to your pocket pc. You will not be able to change channels, however, without a remote control program. If you just listen to one station, this is perfect, but I'm sure for many this is not the case. The more you try, the more mobile streaming progresses. Don't give up.

Xm is adding the online service to your account when they raise prices in April, so I was going to try it then |

Well, thanks, Weedie! I've gotten your post on 2 forums, and this looks very interesting. I'll give it a try sometime soon. Since XM keeps yanking their eclectic stations off the satellites, this may be my only option soon.

Has anyone tried the XM sevice for Pocket PC? Is the sound quality okay? Did you have to add any extras for it to work? If I had this, could I still use a GPS sytem with it at the same time? Thanks for any info

Since it's all streaming (the XM and even their "live" TV app), the quality is going to be limited by your Internet connection bandwidth, and the player you use.
If you're using GPRS / Windows Media... might as well forget about it.
Wifi / TCPMP / Mortplayer for example - much better combination - HOWEVER why pay for the app when there are PLENTY of freeware applications that are AS good or even better in many cases? In addition to that, rather than paying for an XM Radio subscription (for those that do not already subscribe) why not stream for FREE from shoutcast? You're going to get commercial free content and quality is the same. If you already have an XM Radio subscription, then it's not so bad other than having to pay for the streaming app (which doesn't look like much considering it uses WMP9/10).
