Default Looking for Headphones - Can't Locate the Post from This Site

For shame, for shame ops: . A link was posted in a thread a couple of weeks ago about what appeared to be a great set of headphones. After looking through threads for the past half-hour, I give up and am asking for help. This is what I think I remember about the headphones:

1. Price was around $70
2. I think they are made in NYC
3. They are very highly rated and have been around for some time
4. The are not fancy and have an "old-school" look about them (I think this is part of their appeal)
5. I THINK they were foldable/collapsable

I can't believe that I can not remember the name of these headphones. I'm trying to find a decent set for my 4150 without breaking the budget. I am not overly impressed with Seinheiser and am willing to consider almost anything under $100. But I would really like to read more about the set I described above.

As always, thanx for any help.

I think you're looking for the Grado SR60 headphones that were mentioned in this post.

I came v-e-r-y close to buying the Grado SR60 headphones. I didn't because I would prefer some headphones with a volume control and that are collaspable/foldable. I'll settle for one out of two but as far as I can tell, the Grado's don't have either.

I may end up getting them but I think I'm going to search a little longer. Sure would be helpful if some insightful community members shared their insights on headphones. Recommendations/suggestions/comments, etc.

Also, is there a technical reason for not including volume control on headphones? It seems like such a convenient feature that I'm surprised all high-end ones don't have them.

Also, price is not a major consideration. I'm not looking to go broke, but I'm willing to spend a decent amount for the right headphones.

Thanx,
