Default Dark Screen with Media Player 8.5 on a X5

I have a dell X5 with MP 8.5. It plays some videos fine but with some it has a very dark screen. Does it have something to do with the bitrate?

It could be a codec issue. What file type is causing the problem, and what version is it? For example, if it's WMV, is it WMV7, WMV8, WMV9, etc.?

Default WMV

It is a WMV file. The audio Codec was Windows Media Audio 9.1 and the video Codec was Windows Media Audio 9.

That seems to be the problem. You're using a newer codec than WMP 8.5 can handle. You can try third-party players such as Pocket Player 3.0 and TCPMP, but I don't like your chances. Most video applications that support WMV leverage playback components embedded in the OS.
