Can I play Quicktime movies on my iPAQ?

I downloaded the Star Wars Ep 3 trailers and would like to play them on my H2200. Windows Media, PocketTV and Beta Player can not open them. Is there a pocket PC program that can?

Not that I know of, but I seem to recall using Quicktime Pro to convert .mov files to .mpg before and using PocketTV to play them (I believe that's what I did with Troops).

Actually, someone here posted a brilliant and surprisingly simple solution:
Just export the movie from QuickTime in MP4 format. You can watch that with BetaPlayer.

The file size is generally larger than the original, so you may also want to shrink it down using a separate tool like PocketDivxEncoder:

I opened the movie with Quicktime and don't see a way to export it. Please explain.

But only if you own the registered "Pro" version of quicktime.... regular (free) quicktime doesn't have this option, I believe.

That explains it. So, how much is it to register and do you think it was worth the money?

BTW: Is it a one time thing or do you have to keep buying it?

$30 to go from standard (free) edition to pro (paid) edition. The code they give you is only good for the current major version. Right now, the codes for Quicktime 6.0-current is what you'd pay for, but when 7.0 comes out, you would have to pay again to get a code that unlocks all the features.

Not worth it in my opinion, I don't have much content that I'd watch on my PDA that started in quicktime format. It just depends how many movie trailers that you want to copy over, I think.

In the meantime, a simple google seach will find the Star Wars ep 3 trailers that other people have ripped/converted to DivX/XviD already. Why not start with those instead?

That search didn't yield me any real files but after rechecking www.pocketmovies.net, they recently posted both.

I can't help noticing ther is a HUGE difference in quality, even on my desktop. This is the reason for wanting to run "PocketQuicktime".

Maybe Apple needs to loosen up a little and stop keeping everything in shuch a locked box. :?
