AVI to WMA conversion on Windows 98 computer?

I have a desktop running Win 98 SE. Is there are way to convert avi to WMA or other format that will play on PPC? I do have Adobe Premier, older version.

You can still download Windows Media Encoder 7.1 free from the M$ website:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ad/default.asp

While they recommend at least Windows 2000 they also say that it will work on Win 98 SE

I assume you mean WMV, since WMA are just the audio component (Windows Media Audio). Anyway, if you have Premier 5.0 or greater (that is still an old version) you can download a plugin from Microsoft (at least you could two years ago..) that allows you to export directly to WMV. Or download the Windows Media Encoder as already suggested.
