Default "x" to close?

one of the hardest things to get used to for me going from palm to PPC is that programs continue to run even when you press the "x". is there some add-on i can get to force the top right "x" to close the program? and maybe add a minimize so i have a choice like in windows?

thanks!!

Yes, there is. One application called Battery Bar from Omega One does this and a bunch of other things. You can also find some freeware apps that do the same thing. Give the forums a search, and you'll come up with a lot of solutions!

I've been a long time user of Spb Pocket Plus.

As well as the Close functionality for the close button, you get some enhancements to Pocket IE and a Today screen plug in that provides a program launcher, battery meter, memory monitor, etc.

Pocket Plus is also a very good program. SPB is a great developer.

hard to say really... i'm kind a gadget geek so have always kept my eye on PPC even thought i've been using various palm's for years. the one factor that kept me away was the size of PPC devices was always a show-stopper for me... but when i saw the HP 1945 and the 4155 i was intrigued to say the least. and then to find out the 4155 has wifi and bluetooth - that about sold me (i've already got a sony T610).

I don't have a link handy, but there is a free program called 'Magic Button' that works with 2002 and 2003. It is among the first programs I install on a clean PocketPC.

As you see, there are several options. Meaning that this functionality really should be incorporated into the OS.

As for myself, I use WISBar Advance. It lets you tap-n-hold to select close or minimize, I think. Mainly I just set default behavior for different programs. In other words, I have it close instead of minimize EXCEPT for certain programs, among them Pocket Informant.

Wisbar is a popular freeware app :P I used to love it heaps until I bought batterypack. SPB-plus also comes highly recommended. Is it actually better than batterypack though?

Bit off-topic but has anyone followed the furore that's started with the introduction of Batterypack pro? It's a $5 upgrade I'd consider paying for but after reading the official forum posts, I'm reconsidering whether I may go SPB instead.
