Default Help Sycn'ing

Hello All,

I have a major problem and need a lot of help. My laptop is on its last leg. I am currently using ACT2000 with 2400 clients/prospects. I would like to move all of them to my iPAQ H4150. I just purchased a Stowaway XT Keyboard and a 1gig SD card to go with my 256mb SD card (I know, I know OVER KILL). I would like to move all of my contacts from ACT2000 to Outlook. But here’s my question. Can you sync the Outlook Journal with a normal sync? Ya see I use the notes area in ACT2000 extensively. I would like to move all of my current notes in ACT to the Journal in Outlook. Now, if this can’t be done would anyone have suggestions as to how it can be done or other software that may work better? Now I would like to open up my contacts on my H4150 but have all of the info stored on my SD Card and not the main memory (kinda defeats the purpose of having 1.3 gig’s of external memory) But can you do this, have all of the contact info on the SD card but when you open you open your contact all of the info is there as normal?

Thanks

Marc

Well, you can't store contacts on a storage card, so that is out. ACT is a more powerful contact manager than Outlook is. About 2 years ago, ACT had a PPC client. Have you checked their site to see if they still do?

If you do decide to go with Outlook as your PIM, I would recommend you try CLC Journal (Crown Logic - $39.95) to sync your Outlook Journal with your PPC. The app creates a conduit in ActiveSync and it has worked without issue for me over the past two years.

I use Outlook Journal every day and sync the past 6 months of entries with the PPC. When traveling, I also add Journal entries on the PPC and sync back to the laoptop. Can't tell you how many times a search of CLC Journal has saved me while on the road. It's one of my "must have" applications.

FYI- I have 893 contacts loaded on my PPC and it only takes up 207K, and I currently have 543 Journal entries (probably 500-800 words per) totaling 246K, so I would not worry much about main vs. SD card memory.

Save the SD card for bulky, seldom used programs and multimedia stuff (photos, music and video).
